The future of mining and critical minerals has never been brighter with strong global demand and state and federal governments driving investment into the sector. The growth outlook for critical minerals in North and North West Queensland has never been stronger with the delivery of projects like Copperstring set to help transform the region.


Be part of the conversation with industry and government in how the $5 billion dollar 'CopperString Effect' is unlocking $740 billion worth of known critical minerals and is catapulting Townsville North Queensland to take center stage and become the global processing hub for green battery materials.


Townsville Enterprise is proud to announce the Hon Scott Stewart, Minister for Resources and Critical Minerals, will be delivering the a key note address to inaugurate the 2024 forum.


Hear from key-note speakers such as Dr John Coyne, the Head of the Northern Australia Strategic Policy Centre at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, speaking on topics such as how our Critical Minerals and Rare Earths support the defence of the nation.


This not to be missed forum will feature presentations and discussion from industry experts, project proponents, thought leaders and industry associations as well as panel sessions and time allocated for networking.

    Dr John Coyne is the Head of Strategic Policing and Law Enforcement Program at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI).

    John comes to ASPI from the Australian Federal Police, where he worked on transnational serious organised crime, national security, and counter-terrorism. Over the last twenty years he has been an intelligence professional at tactical, operational, and strategic levels across a range of military, regulatory, national security and law enforcement organisations. During this period he has worked extensively in the ASEAN region, delivering a range of bilateral research projects. His more recent work in this area has focused on enhancing multilateral ASEAN information.

    Scott Stewart is the Minister for Resources and Critical Minerals.

    Before entering Parliament as the Member for Townsville in 2015, Mr Stewart worked in education for 28 years; serving as a principal and teacher in several high schools. Upon his election in October 2015, he served as the Chair of the Education, Tourism, Innovation and Small Business Committee and as deputy speaker.

    Scott and his family have lived in Townsville for over 20 years and in that time has watched the city grow into a vibrant hub of north Queensland.
